David Kolsrud - President/CEO

David continues to farm with his wife, Char, and they have two children, Jill and Chris.  David has served on various church and co-op boards.  He studied Ag Education at the University of Minnesota for four years before he was drafted into the United States Army in November of 1970.  After serving in the infantry at Berlin, Germany for 2 years he returned to Beaver Creek, MN and purchased a farm.  David ’s passion is economic development in rural areas. He started DAK Renewable Energy as an opportunity to grow his ideas in the renewable fuels industry.

"On a still October afternoon, David Kolsrud is gearing up for the harvest. Today, he'll reap some 30 acres of soybeans on his 500-acre farm in Beaver Creek, Minn. His son, Chris, mans a 12-ton combine, a mechanized harvester that sweeps up whole plants and shoots out a steady stream of beans. This evening, Kolsrud will head off to a grain elevator over the border in South Dakota to deliver 1,100 bushels of them.

As if all this weren't enough to manage, the 58-year-old Kolsrud also runs a burgeoning energy business. Steering his John Deere tractor with one hand and clutching a cell phone in the other, he discusses his stake in a new biodiesel plant in Delaware. Earlier today, Kolsrud played host to a group of Canadian bankers and business developers at a local ethanol plant he co-owns with 220 area farmers. Dan Heard - President/CFO

Dan has been engaged in public accounting for 22 years and active in the renewable energy industry for 12 years. Dan has experience in assisting projects from start up and progressing to monthly and annual reporting processes once a project is under production. Dan also has experience with merger/acquisition transactions and the financial and tax issues related to those transactions. Dan brings much needed experience to our company.

Matt Willard - Consultant

Matt has twenty five years experience in business development, strategic planning, new product development, and marketing and sales within technology companies and business units. Specializing over the last 5 years in the agricultural marketplace and before that in satellite and wireless communications; remote sensing products and services; and GPS-based asset management applications, Matt brings a fresh new perspective to our industry. He is recognized for successful sales and marketing efforts, new product development efforts, developing and implementing new business models; facilitating mergers and acquisitions; and establishing and maintaining International B2B relationships.

Jill Blom - Graphic Designer/Media Consultant

Jill graduated from Augustana College in 2003 with a B.A. in both art and journalism. In North Carolina, she worked in the motorsports and golf industries as a graphic designer, event planning assistant and marketing intern. Jill joined DAK Renewable Energy in January 2008 and creates branding, websites and marketing materials.

Andrea Parliament - Administrative Assistant

Andrea joined the team in January 2008 and is responsible for administrative and office support. You will find her answering the phone, preparing correspondance and keeping track of the team. Andrea has over nine years of customer service and accounting experience.

Corey Heimensen - Liscensed Stock Broker

Corey’s investment career began in 1992 in the field of private equity, specializing in commercial real estate development.  He is a co-founder of Olson Heimensen Financial Services, Inc., holding Securities Registrations 6, 7, and 63, as well as completing the process of becoming an Investment Advisor Representative. Through SII Investments, Inc., a registered broker dealer, Olson Heimensen Financial provides a full range of securities products which include stocks, bonds, separately managed accounts, mutual funds, real estate investment trusts, annuities and college savings plans.  The firm also works with various CPAs and Attorneys on tax minimization strategies, as well as wealth transfers. Corey earned a degree in Finance from Buena Vista University.  Away from the office, he enjoys golfing and attending sporting events as well as playing a key role in his local Kiwanis Club.  Corey resides in Rock Rapids, Iowa with his wife, Heather, and three children, Zed, Hayden, and Grace.

Jason Ranschau - Computer Support

Jason is also a recent graduate of Augustana College. He graduated in May 2006 with a BA in Computer Information Systems. With extensive experience in networking he is a great asset to our computer needs and problems. Jason works part time to help maintain our systems here at DAK.
